How to use Pipedrive integration?

Here’s a brief overview of Agrello integration with Pipedrive, what is does and how to set it up.

Written by Toomas Pihl

What does it do?

The purpose of Pipedrive integration in Agrello is rather simple. We built it so we could use the customer data already present in our Pipedrive account for generating contracts. Once connected you simply need to search for the deal and after that, Agrello Pipedrive connector pulls the data, fills the fields and prepares the contract for you to review. Simple as that.

How does it work?

It’s actually pretty simple once everything has been set up. Open up a template and you should be able to see a Pipedrive icon on the left sidebar. Click it open and click on Create from pipedrive.

Next you need to:

  1. Pick a an output format

  2. Search for a right deal *

  3. Pick the deal

  4. Push “Create Contract”

Only deals can be searched for now. However for filling in the fields, Organisation and Person connected to the fields is also being used. For example, Agrello+Test is a deal name, but deal is connected to Agrello (Organisation) and Toomas (Person). This way there’s no need to create additional field in Pipedrive and person related data can stay under person, Organisation data under Organization etc.

Once you have Created the document, you can review what kind of information was pulled from Pipedrive and changed if needed. In case the field is empty in Pipedrive, it will be also empty in Agrello, so data accuracy is critical for efficient automation.

How to set it up?

Setting up the Pipedrive connector is a pretty straightforward process and can be divided into following steps.

  1. Step 1- Activate the integration, this is something that workspace owner must do and might require to contact Agrello support, as it might not be available in your pricing package.

  2. Step 2 - Set up the template. Once the first one is done, this is something that everyone with editing rights can do.

Let’s look in detail.

Step 1 - Activate the account

Once the integrations have been enabled for your account, you need Pipedrive API credentials. Specifically you need your Pipedrive API key and domain name.

For domain name head over to your Pipedrive account and look for the address bar. Usually it’s your company name, but it’s between https:// and pipedrive.com (marked as gray area on the screenshot)

The Api key is personal and user based in Pipedrive. Which means that you need to go into your account settings, select Personal preferences > API. If you never needed to use API, there’s probably nothing there and you need to generate a new key.

Once you have the Pipedrive domain and API key, you can head over to Agrello. Under workspace settings, pick API and from there Configure Pipedrive. Bear in mind that currently only workspace owner can do it.

A popup should appear, where you need to enter the Pipedrive domain name and API token. Once done, click save and you should be good to go.

Step 2 - Set up the templates

Once the Pipedrive has been connected, every one with editor rights can prepare templates to work with the Pipedrive connector. For that you need to open up a template and click on the Pipedrive icon.

A dialog will pop open, where you can see three columns.

  • On the first column there are template fields.

  • On second column you need to pick whether the data field is associated with a Person, Organisation or Deal in Pipedrive.

  • On the third column you can pick the specific field associated with either Person, Organisation or Deal.

Please note that it might take some testing and time to get everything working as expected. Also you might discover that there’s some data missing in Pipedrive.
